What Is a Skill Centre Program?
The overarching purpose of the Canada Soccer Skill Centre model is to provide “access to high-quality programs where they can have fun with their friends, learn new skills and play the game in an appropriate format.”
Skill Centre Goals:
Skill Centre Principles:
Skills Centre Sessions:
Skill Centre groups will participate in training sessions held in various facilities in East Hants and will also participate in "Jamboree" style games versus teams from other clubs from the province. Organized by SNS/NSSL, u11 Skill Centre groups play 50 mins of game time, each week for 10 weeks during the summer. Games are scheduled for weekends, in the HRM area.
Our Skill Centre players begin their season with practices in the dome. Once outdoor fields are dry enough, practices alternate between grass and turf. Continuing to train in the dome allows them to prepare for games on turf. At u11, games are 7 aside. Goalkeeper training sessions will be available for all Skill Centre and Competitive team keepers. Days and times to be determined once club practice schedule is established.
u11 Skill Centre is organized into 2 pools, with players of equivalent skills grouped together and playing against similarly skilled groups from other clubs.
Skills Centre Leadership:
Skills Centre groups are lead by volunteer, club-trained parent coaches, who are supported by club staff.
Availability of a Skill Centre program will be dependent on registration numbers. Groups maybe combined to form programs.
